Went for the first time with 3 of my sons ages 9,7, and 6. While it did get a bit crowded and the smaller climbing area was closed off for a birthday party (understandable), the experience was awesome. My kids absolutely loved it and it was a very welcoming environment. From when we first got there until we left we had a wonderful experience. I paid for myself to climb and winded up not climbing at all so I could watch my kids. They refunded my money which most places likely wouldn’t do. My kids are asking to go back asap! Highly recommend!!

My review of this place comes from an observer only, not a participant. They would probably have to have called 911 if I had tried to climb the walls or boulder. Watching people climb the walls like spiders did make me wish for a wee bit of the years to be shaved off so I could join them. Everyone entering here will need to sign a waiver of liability, even if you don't climb, which is good for a year. Bring your own gear, if not a member, to save on the entry fee, but they do have gear to rent. You don't need an appointment or be a member to climb... just walk in. They also have classes to show you how to get off the ground. Outdoor climbing wall open when weather permits. Lockers and cubbies to stow your street shoes and accessories you don't need when climbing.

We had an Amazing Climbing Experience at Cliff Hangers! My son and I had an absolute blast at Cliff Hangers in Mooresville, NC! From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed for a great climbing experience. The facility is top-notch, with a wide variety of climbing routes for all skill levels. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced climber, there's something for everyone. My son loved tackling the different walls, and it was great to see him build confidence with each climb. The bouldering area was also a big hit! Beyond climbing, the atmosphere was fantastic—clean, well-maintained, and full of friendly, encouraging climbers. It’s the perfect place for a fun, active day out with family or friends. We can't wait to go back and challenge ourselves even more! Highly recommend Cliff Hangers to anyone looking for an exciting and rewarding climbing experience!

The temperature in this facility is unacceptably cold. I've observed staff huddling around a small space heater, which tells you everything you need to know about the working conditions. For a climbing gym, this isn't just uncomfortable - it's a safety issue. Cold muscles are injury-prone muscles. The cafe appears to be closed, which limits options for anyone spending significant time here. Most disturbing: I heard a staff member use "gay" as an insult. In 2026. This isn't a middle school cafeteria - it's supposed to be a professional business. Homophobic language has no place in any public space, but especially not one that should welcome all athletes. Queer people climb, and we pay attention to whether facilities create hostile environments. The freezing temperatures, shuttered amenities, and apparent tolerance for discriminatory language suggest ownership has stopped investing in this place. Other climbing gyms in the area manage to heat their buildings and maintain professional standards. Climbers have options.

Terrible, terrible, awful awful bouldering, do not go here for bouldering, this place is for kids, families, after school kids events, if you have kids, yeah maybe fine, but it's all belay basically, the bouldering routes are the worst I've ever seen. No different styles, terrible grading, confusing grading, missing start flags, confusing flags, if it's a v5-v6 its just crimps and no grip, that's the only thing, and the v3-v4 is mad easy, no gradient between the routes in terms of difficulty. No dyno, no slab, just crimp city baby. Have you been doing the fingerboard? No? That's all this place caters towards, I honestly believe they are purposely making the bouldering bad, confusing and overly crowded on the wall on purpose. They must not want people on those sections, belay and kids events seems the focus. Probably cool for parents. Not cool for climbers. So many climbs on the wall you will be slamming your knee, ankle, elbow into 8 different colored routes on your way up. The pads are awful, they have holes where you go straight to the concrete, they have reviews saying this same thing more than 3 years ago. Just go to InnerPeaks in Charlotte, any of the three wonderful locations, they have far superior route setting, nicer staff, etc. Also there was NOBODY there, nobody wants to climb here man. I will never come back, it's obvious they are not interested in bouldering. There is no beta for any of these routes, just a grip strength check. No techniques, just go fingerboard more. I left not even tired after like 3 hours there, most routes are either not tagged, mistagged, undertagged, maybe half the route got taken down so you are just confused. Place is a whole mess. Unbelievable. Oh my god why is there so many holds on every square inch of the wall, you cannot get your hips close to wall because there's 10 different colors of routes in your way. This place is probably for kids and maybe belayers. Felt scammed and a huge waste of time. By the way, please stop playing Evanescence and Stone Cold Sour or whatever from the early 2000s, that music is only good in rotation not blasted the entire time. Terrible music choice, at that point for real just turn it off.
