To say that Kevin did a spectacular job with my request would be minimizing exactly what he did. I was charged with handling the digitization of a very unique piece: the journal of chess Grandmaster Daniel "Danya" Naroditsky, the GM-in-residence of the Charlotte Chess Center and a worldwide chess phenomenon with a pedigree and reputation beyond compare. This 165-page journal, which Danya used when he was around 12-13 years old, contained the notes Danya made when preparing to publish his first chess book at 14 years old; to note, he is the youngest-ever published chess author to date. Unfortunately, GM Naroditsky passed away October 19, 2025, which means this journal was not only important to his family and friends, but also to the broader scope of chess history. I knew I could take this virtually anywhere, but I wanted someone with more of a museum-quality archival background, who could handle the project gingerly and delicately. I stumbled upon Kevin. After explaining the project and its significance, and after adding some additional photos to be digitized, Kevin took the project by the horns and exceeded my already perilously high expectations. Not only did Kevin agonizingly digitize the journal, accounting for bleed-through on pages, color balance, etc., he--ON HIS OWN--had a friend donate their services to restore a photo of Danya playing as a child that had been sunfaded. He also gave us two large prints of the restored version--one for Danya's mother and one for our organization to keep. We received high and low quality versions of prints, a PDF version of the journal, and more. Kevin was not only meticulous to the details of preservation, he was expedient. The service was quick, which was important as we are building a digital museum celebrating Danya's history. I would wholeheartedly recommend Kevin's services to anyone a million times over--and then some more. I cannot sing his praises enough. Thanks Kevin!
