January 7, 2026 The amazing Paul Di Marco of the Lake Norman Yacht Club reached out to us and fixed the issue with the webcam. He replaced the camera with the smudge with a MUCH better camera and the problem was solved. The new camera has greater clarity and brightness and provides such a beautiful image of Lake Norman with some of its glorious boats. WOW! By the way, Paul was even so kind to invite us to attend the grand seasonal opening of the Club in April -- which we plan to do! We cannot thank Paul and the club enough for their thoughtfulness and quick response. You guys are the BEST! THANK YOU! Jerry Santos December 31, 2025 Dear Lake Norman Yacht Club President and Members I hope you will forgive a small and very personal request. The request concerns the club’s internet webcam and removing a small smudge on the lens. See photo posted. The smudge is the small round spot to the right of the flag pole in the photos. Let me explain why this trivial issue is important to me and my wife — in particular to my wife. My wife and I recently moved to the Lake Norman area, and one of the unexpected joys of our day has become your live webcam—the view of the flagpole standing proudly against the lake beyond it. We keep it on our television throughout the day, and it has brought us a great deal of comfort and happiness. My wife especially loves watching the sunrise, the passing boats, the birds, and the ever-changing sky. Those quiet moments mean more to her than I can easily express. We are both elderly, and my wife lives with Parkinson’s disease, which often keeps her housebound for long stretches of time. Being able to look out—if only through a screen—at the lake has become a small but meaningful connection to the world beyond our walls. For the past several months, there has been a small, dark, circular smudge on the camera lens, just to the right of the flagpole. It is minor, but once noticed, it draws the eye and slightly diminishes the beauty of the view. More importantly, it has been disappointing to my wife, who notices it every day. I promised her I would do everything I reasonably could to see if it might be removed. If it is possible for someone to gently clean the camera lens—perhaps with a simple cloth—I would be deeply grateful. If the task requires professional attention, I would be more than happy to cover any associated cost. Removing that small smudge would truly make my wife’s day. In many ways, it would be a holiday gift I could not buy, but one I could help make happen. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, and for any consideration you may be able to give. A great sailing club we visit for regattas and racing. High end and great people to meet on the docks. It’s a private club so get into sailing and sailboat racing so you can enjoy this place. It’s worth it.

Great people is always the key for the success of a club. LNYC definitely has it. As a newbie in sailing, I am getting way better instructions and chances to practice here than my anticipation. Reading from books and watching online courses help you to learn the knowledge, but pulling out a real boat is way more fun and much more efficient for your step to learn.

Our sweet girls went to their first sailing camp this year, and it was amazing. My husband and I aren't sailors, but the kids' grandparents are and were so thankful for this opportunity to have the kids share in their grandparents' love of sailing!!

These guys are what's wrong with sailing. I sail on Lake Norman at least 40-50 days a year. These guys have there races in the main channel which is fine and we always try to avoid getting in the way but if you happen to get to close, the support boats come try to run you off. They never wave or say anything friendly. They act like they own the lake and everyone else should stay out of the way. This behavior is why sailing is on the decline. New people feel like they aren't welcome into the sport and it's an exclusive club for sailing snobs.
