Monsoon Asian Grill & Sushi Bar

We sat outside, which proved to be noisy, but entertaining with all the foot traffic. Monsoon is small inside. I watched as during the lunch rush they had tons of to go orders. I like this type of turnaround with a sushi restaurant. Kelly was our server and she was very helpful with sushi roll recommendations. She is knowledgable about the menu. The menu was overwhelming due to the high amount of options they have. Almost too many. The tuna tataki was amazing..large portion. We ordered the spicy tuna roll(piece of tuna...not the chopped up kind) , salmon lover, yellowtail jalapeno, and red dragon roll (the favorite of the table). Mooresville has 5+ sushi restaurants. I have tried them all and Monsoon is my favorite. Prices are very reasonable for this quality type of sushi.

I’m not super-qualified for this review because I don’t eat sushi. However, I can pick up the vibe of a place within 30 seconds (been to a decent amount of places). This place is clean, the staff is friendly and efficient, and the food is very good. As far as food, I really like the Chicken Wings appetizer and I think I had Sesame Chicken or something like that the time before this, which was solid. If I had to pick out one negative, it would be that the bowls are a little small when you use the fork (or when I use the fork—maybe it’s a me problem). The fork-stab makes the bowl slide around. In my mind, I refer to it as a the Monsoon Slide, but don’t tell anyone that. Whatever you call it, it’s a ‘fun’ challenge. Fortunately, there is no bowl for Chicken Wings—just lettuce. And who doesn’t love lettuce? :) Anyway, a very well-run and clean place with very good food. And if you’re a sushi person, you probably don’t have to worry about bowls. Definitely recommended! Added Bonus: Dairy Queen is in the same parking lot, so you can get ice cream afterwards. Unless you like sushi and hot dogs, then you can do that.

I ordered a shrimp tempura bento box online however, their website allowed me to click multiple options. It was very confusing as far as what you are actually gonna get when I got there. They said you can only choose four and they gave me rice a dumpling thing, egg roll and what they call a California roll, which is not a California roll. It’s a avocado roll. How they can say that this is a California roll is beyond me, but everything was horrible at this place and I’ll never go again.

This was really good and I would highly recommend it. Make an effort to try this place out. It was the best sushi that I have in my life. Coming from Jersey that is a big push. If you are in the area stop by and try everything on the menu.

I ate here cuz my friend works here but it’s absolutely amazing. I got a poke a bowl and the portion was so good I had some the next day (it still tasted great!). I also got an ube smoothie and it sooooo yummmmm!!!
