Planet Fitness

This is an awesome gym. I wouldn’t say it’s perfect but no gym is perfect. And perfect would be boring, which is why we as humans go to Planet Fitness—because we’re not perfect yet strive to be, even though we know we will never will be. It’s that drive-and-strive that makes you feel alive. I think I just unintentionally did a corny rhyme 😬. But I’m gonna roll with it, like I do in my 64. 🚘 Just kidding. I drove a Toyota Camry. Speaking of that, the club is easy to access. The parking lot is a little wonky, but that’s fine. As far as the inside goes (more important than the parking lot when it comes to gyms), I’ll give you the good and bad. Good Tons of equipment. A lot of Smith Machines (I had no clue this would be the key to strength gains the whole time 🤦‍♂️). Plenty of cardio equipment. Six stairclimbers 💪 ! A stretching room (I don’t stretch but still cool). Three cable opportunities for chest. An insane amount of equipment for back (I go light on back to avoid injury problems and it’s a boring workout for me since no pump but still a plus for others). A light dumbbell room. Many barbells. Two pec decks (one needs WD-40). Awesome staff. Always kept clean. Usually good music (not always). Chill workout people (mostly). Bad One of the paper towel holders is broken. As you can see, the good greatly outweighs the bad. This gym is more enjoyable than the Mooresville location due to more space. The Lincolnton location is enormous with 5% the amount of people so that is a cool spot but it doesn’t have as much energy. And the Newton location is also pretty cool but not as big as Lincolnton and not as my energy as Cornelius. Btw, people are complaining about this gym for $15/month. Bro! Or ‘Bruh’ depending on your age. Highly recommended!

There were about 25 people that showed up Saturday morning and we have been here for over 40 mins and no one has shown up to open the door Apparently the normal person that’s here on Sat it’s her birthday. Update Tried to now 8:20 still no one there multiple cars, pulling out of the parking lot. This was really unfortunate. I went at this gym the last two days and it was great. The young man tha works at night “Ty” super helpful and friendly. I heard from all the guys that were waiting that the young lady that is usually there is great too. Someone apparently dropped the ball on scheduling. Maybe next time 🤷‍♀️

What a disgusting place. This PF is always unkept & not cleaned. As you can see the dirt & filth in the showers, urinals, & litter throughout the bathroom/locker room. I took both urinal & shower pictures on a Sunday morning. When I returned Wednesday morning everything was finally clean. I dont know who decided to clean but it was sometime Tuesday. So thats 3 days the urinals & showers weren't cleaned & hosed down. I never saw anyone hose the showers down with soap or bleach. I never smelled bleach or any type of cleaner in the locker room/shower. You also see the employees cart out in the open when it should be locked in the closet or by the front desk, litter on the floor, some kind of a substance on the garbage pale, another picture shows the employee closet door open when it should be closed. The toilet paper dispenser was empty for a whole day and no soap in the dispenser for over a week. How do people get away with not doing their job? Where is the franchise owner? No surprise visits? Where is PF corporate? No surprise visits? Part of the franchise contract should be that the franchise owner makes themselves visible, to check on employees responsibilities. Is there a manager? If there is, their not managing. And on a Tuesday morning - a day they're supposed to be open 24 hours - the employee didn't arrive until 4:30am and didn't open the door until 5:00am. This place needs a whole new staff - including a new manager.

Planet Fitness is a solid gym for anyone looking for a clean, affordable place to work out. The equipment is well-maintained, the atmosphere is friendly and non-intimidating, and I never feel out of place, no matter what time I go. My favorite part is the hydro massage chair—it’s the perfect way to relax after a workout.

A generally good, but highly variable experience. The crowd is overwhelmingly considerate and polite, with very few meatheads or princesses just there to show off for their feed. Maintenance could be improved, with some machines being broken or damaged for extended periods. The locker rooms could also be cleaner, though this varies greatly on who is working and when you show up. Also, through careful analysis and selection, they have managed to create a music playlist that literally no one likes. I suspect it's to prevent loitering and free up machines. It's also a strong argument for bringing your own headphones.
