Southern Charm Retreats

If you enjoy not having a washer or dryer…hauling wet clothes from place to place then this house is for you. Walking in red mud because there’s hardly any grass…and paying around $2,600 for one weekend…sign on up! We rented Crystal Cove Retreat for a little getaway with our family before Christmas started. Right from the start, there were issues trying to figure out how to work everything. This house also came with a hot tub so we were trying to wash and dry towels. The dryer was very slow to dry anything on Friday night. We thought it was just because there were so many towels in there at a time. The next morning I tried to wash clothes and the washer was not working and at this time, the dryer wasn’t drying anything. I reached out to Southern charm and they told me that I was probably putting too many clothes in there. I took clothes out tried to wash again, would not work kept throwing an error message out. They then told me to take all of the wet clothes and put them in the dryer in the en suite. Those also did not work as those wouldn’t finish washing the clothes that were in there and then wouldn’t dry anything either. They told me that it would probably be impossible to get someone out there and I told them that we were running out of towels and didn’t have anymore. When the maintenance guy finally came out and stayed for a few hours, he told me that the washer hadn’t been fixed right when it got fixed a few months ago. He said the dryer wasn’t working because it wasn’t even plugged into the wall with the vent. So, basically this wasted an entire day of our vacation trying to get clothes washed and dried when the reason nothing was working was because this company is not doing correct maintenance. How can anyone not know that the dryer is not hooked up to the wall and that’s the reason it’s not drying anything. This house is supposed to fit how many people with no working washer and dryer??? Management tried to give us a 15% off voucher for next time..why would we stay here again?

This was our second stay at “little acorn luxury”. We were so excited to come back to the views of the lake we had last summer. Imagine our surprise when we drove up and saw that a large portion of the green grass near the lake had been replaced by brown straw.. The entire waterfront is now covered in gross brown straw. We contacted Southern Charm, who explained that the sea wall had been replaced and that the straw was there to aid new grass growth. We totally understand why the straw was there, but not sure why we weren’t contacted ahead of time to let us know, and to give us an option to change the reservation. Southern Charm really did not care at all that this property is NOT what is described on their website.

We rented a 3 bedroom modular on Turtle cove for 5 nights. Fantastic view, quite, comfortable beds, clean house. We had coffee on the screened in porch every morning, and kayaked in the evening when the sun was going down. The pontoon rental available with the property made the trip. Clean lake. Restaurants and stores nearby. This company was wonderful to work with. Friendly, accommodating and professional. Highly recommend renting with them.

☀️ Paradise Peninsula ☀️ Truly a 5 star experience. We had a group of 11 adults and 3 kids. Everyone had a bed, which all were EXTREMELY comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. Plenty of bathrooms and space throughout the house. There is a large living space and a tv in almost every room. The area is unbeatable. It’s a nice, quiet neighborhood with plenty of yard space. Great dock and sitting area. It was truly all we could ask for and more. Also, Southern Charm Retreats customer service is top notch. They were always readily accessible. I could text them at any time and I would quickly get a response back. I’ve never dealt with a company so kind, catering and efficient. So thankful for Southern Charm Retreats and Paradise Peninsula for helping our family have a much needed, wonderful time together.

We had an amazing week at Living Large—one of Southern Charm Retreats’ properties! The home was spacious, clean and allowed for us to gather today as a large family or find space to take time alone. The outdoor space is AMAZING and the location is convenient to get to many shops, restaurants, and activities. The house also has great activities for kids and a beautiful neighborhood for walks and scenic views. We highly recommend this property for a restful and restorative retreat!
