Extremely upset. Not only was my bill over $600 for one month (my house is 900 square feet). I paid my bill just to avoid having it turned off; however, I called to see if there could be an issue with my meter or tank. I told them I was a single mom and I have NEVER paid that much in the last two years that I have had them. They were not only unempathetic but rude. I told them that sometimes I smell smoke or a gas smell, and if that could be an issue. The representative said that because I mentioned I smelled gas, I had to pay another $150 for someone to do a Safety Leak Check. I told her nevermind because I just got done paying $1,220 for gas the last two months, and that I can not afford another bill right now. On top of that, she said I HAD to be there in 30 mins, and if no one was home, they would immediately lock my tank up. I begged them not do the safety check because I told her the smell wasn't concerning enough for me, and if I HAVE to do it, please wait until I was home around 6. She said she would tell them, but it is not guaranteed. I said I can't afford to pay it and continued to beg them not do it. I ended up leaving work early because I just had a feeling they would not wait until 6. I came home to them already on my property. The first thing they said was that he was told to LOCK my tank because I refused to pay for the safety leak check (Never refused it), and that he wasn't told about me asking to wait until 6 p.m. The gentleman was super nice and empathetic. Even tried calling his boss for advice, but was still told that I had to pay the same day or someone would be locking my tank, and I would have to pay someone to come out and reopen it. The tech guy was extremely nice. My issue is my experience with the lady on the phone. Never have I felt so hopeless and belittled. Not only was she talking over me, catching an attitude, but all she kept saying was "It was a cold winter". She read me the "protocol" for the safety gas leak, then said "Bye" and hung up, trying to rush me off the phone. I have been patient and nice. As I said, I have had this company for gas for the last two years. The most I had paid was under $300. I called concerned and seeking help. Instead, I am being forced to pay another charge I was not expecting to pay.

I spoke with someone on January 22 and requested they come and fill my tank. I was told it would be the next week because they were busy. They finally filled my tank today almost 4 weeks after my request. In addition, I saw one of their trucks four houses down about a week ago but they did not bother to fill mine. I’m very disappointed in the timeliness of the service.

This is a shout out to Chip Chandler, District Manager at Thompson Gas in Denver NC, for truly exceptional service. After I sent an email outlining some concerns, Chip personally came to our home to help resolve the issue with our fireplace. The fact that a district manager would take the time to show up in person speaks volumes about his leadership and commitment to customers. He was professional, responsive, and genuinely focused on helping us get things working safely and correctly. This level of accountability and care is rare and very impressive! Chip’s actions turned a frustrating situation into a positive experience and showed that Thompson Gas does, in fact, care about its customers. Thank you Chip! Top-notch service.

Can’t say enough about a gentleman by the name of Chip who helped us out during the extremely cold and icy weather we recently had around the end of December first of January 2026. It was late in the evening and we had ran out of propane gas at a residence in Mooresville and had no heat. Wasn’t sure for as late as it was that we would be serviced at all and would be spending the night in a cold house. Chip made sure that he got a truck out to refill us promptly so we were able to have heat that evening. My family and I were very thankful not knowing what we were going to do. Chip kept in contact with us and made sure we were promptly taken care of. Thanks so much the Hammond family.
