United Escapes of America - Lake Norman

We had an absolute blast at this escape room! I went with a group of friends and it was the perfect mix of challenging and fun. The puzzles were creative, the room was well put together, and the whole experience kept us engaged the entire time. Our game master, Angela, was awesome and truly made the experience even better. She was welcoming, helpful at just the right moments, and brought great energy to the whole thing. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun group activity!

Note: I’ve reached out twice to the company via their online Contact Us form to discuss our experience and offer private feedback for improvement consideration, but there has been no response. First off, I will say the manager was very gracious in allowing us special consideration to accommodate one of our team members; I really appreciated that. The puzzles were adequately challenging but mostly opening various locks (I think we counted more than 10), so the creativity could be improved upon. We 99% solved it minus a few unsolicited hints/nudges. The game keepers were not great - we told them from the beginning (and repeatedly throughout the game) NOT to give us hints unless requested and a couple of times they gave us unsolicited nudges and we had to tell them repeatedly to stop, especially cause we had already figured out what to do and their messages were just distracting and very annoying at that point. They did it multiple more times too! So frustrating!! Also, they didn’t tell us we had to break the glow stick with 2 minutes or whatever left on the timer, so we broke it with only like 10 seconds left cause we needed 1 more minute to finish the last puzzle. The game keeper came into the room while we were trying to finish, was SUPER weird about it and told us it was too late to extend the time. We’re like “ok but you didn’t tell us there was a limit on when we could break the glow stick and also, what’s the actual problem? The clues won’t work or the puzzles won’t open?” She was again super weird about it and kept leaving to ask the other game keeper what to do. While she was gone (she left us standing there for over 5 minutes!), we just decided to do the last step to see if it worked, and it did. No issues with the game not working after the time limit. Literally 30 seconds, likely much less than we lost yelling at her about giving unsolicited nudges. When she finally came back into the room, she was like, do you want to take a photo - here’s these “almost made it signs”…. hahaha. I was like, “keep your signs, they don’t apply.” Talk about not reading the room! Sheesh. Also, it was like 85 degrees in the room the moment we started - we were all flushed and sweating the whole time! So, in conclusion, good challenging puzzles, we liked the variety of locks but it could be more creative, game keepers were weird and didn’t run the game well and the room was sweltering. I think as long as the puzzles are good, the other stuff can be fixed with feedback (which I tried to provide them), so we may go back. The Escape Game Concord is MUCH better run, the sets are FANTASTIC and the puzzles more challenging, creative and fun than just opening lock after lock. But, it’s like twice the cost and in Concord… I’d love to try this place again but I’ll wait to see if I get any feedback on this post from them. Until then, I’m hesitant to return.

We had the best time trying our luck with the pirate's room. We did not complete it in the time allotted, but we laughed a lot at each other. 😂 Angela was our game master throughout our journey. She was very nice and informative the whole time. She told us it was rated a medium difficulty, I would disagree. This was one of the more challenging rooms I've ever played. I would highly recommend United Escapes experience to everyone who loves an adventure.

Daisy was amazing! We went Saturday evening and had the best time. Daisy was professional and also fun! We can't wait to go back.

Our group of 8 adults had so much fun in the pirate room. It was challenging and we made it out with 2:21 minutes to spare. I would highly recommend this venue for your escape room pick.
