The overview

What to expect.

Every month, the enclosed concert room at New Victory Lanes trades bowling-alley clatter for a full big band, and Mooresville gets one of the more charming nights out on the lake. The Lake Norman Big Band plays jazz standards and the classics — the kind of music made for dancing — and the room is set up for exactly that: dinner first, then a show and a dance floor.

The format is easy. A buffet dinner opens at 6:00pm and the band strikes up at 7:00, playing until about 9:00. You can take your meal at a booth, a regular table, a high-top, or grab one of the limited seats at the bar. One smart touch worth knowing: the concert-and-dance area is enclosed and walled off from the lanes, so the bowling noise never bleeds into the music.

"

Dinner at six, the band at seven, and a dance floor all night — it's a supper club hiding inside a bowling alley.

It draws a crowd that knows the room — the band has a real local following, so reservations are the move rather than the exception. Whether you're a serious shag dancer or just there for the buffet and the brass, it's a genuinely fun, multi-generational evening, and one of those Lake Norman things you'd never find unless a neighbor told you.

Before you go

Common questions.

What does a ticket cost?
General admission runs $35 per person (plus a small ticket service fee), and a ticket covers the show and your buffet dinner. There's also a full-year season ticket if you plan to make it a habit. The December show is priced a touch higher at $40.
Is dinner included?
Yes — the ticket covers the entertainment, the buffet dinner, and non-alcoholic beverages. Alcohol is available separately at the bar.
Do I need a reservation?
It's recommended. The band is popular and reservations hold your seat; remaining spots go first come, first served. You can reserve online through the event page or by calling 704-664-2695.
Is there dancing?
Absolutely — it's a show and a dance, with a floor in the enclosed concert room. Shag dancers in particular will feel right at home.
What kind of music is it?
Live big band jazz — classic, standards-driven swing from a regional ensemble dedicated to the genre. Great whether you came to dance or just to listen.
Will the bowling noise interrupt the show?
No. The performance space is enclosed and separated from the lanes specifically so the bowling sounds don't disrupt the music.
Is it all ages?
The venue is family-friendly and the event is open to the public, so it tends to draw a nice multi-generational crowd. It's an evening, seated-dinner format rather than a kids' activity.
