The overview

What to expect.

Ahoy, little ghosts and goblins! Halloween is taking over the Lake Norman waterfront, and apparently, even the pirates are getting into the spooky spirit.

The 3rd Annual Boating Safety Haunted Cove is sailing into Blythe Landing in Huntersville on Friday, October 23, from 6–8 PM, bringing haunted boats, pirate ships, candy, and plenty of Halloween fun to the shores of Lake Norman.

And here's the best part: It's completely free!

A Haunted Cove? Only on Lake Norman!

Forget the ordinary haunted house. Around here, we do Halloween lake-style.

The Cornelius Police Department and its community partners are transforming Blythe Landing into a Halloween destination, complete with a haunted boat dock and haunted house.

Expect a little spooky atmosphere, some pirate-inspired fun, and plenty of reasons for your little trick-or-treaters to get excited.

Here's what's planned:

- Haunted boat dock: A spooky waterfront attraction with a distinctly Lake Norman twist. - Haunted house: A little Halloween fright for those feeling brave. - Pirate ships: Because what's a haunted cove without a few pirates? - Trunk-or-treating: Bring your candy buckets and collect some Halloween goodies. - Music and food: Enjoy a festive evening with the community.

Whether your crew includes tiny superheroes, miniature witches, or a pirate captain who's been practicing "Arrr!" since breakfast, there's something to get excited about.

A Little Halloween Fun With a Bigger Purpose

Behind the spooky decorations and sweet treats is a mission that matters to everyone who loves Lake Norman: boating safety.

The event is presented by the Joshua Murray Boating, Safety, Education and Awareness Center, together with the Cornelius Police Department, the Mecklenburg County ABC Board, and community partners.

It's a fun way to bring families together while keeping water safety and awareness in the conversation.

Because enjoying the lake also means looking out for the people who share it.

And if a few pirates and buckets of candy help get that message across? We're all for it.

Bring Your Little Pirates and Come Aboard!

The Boating Safety Haunted Cove is open to all ages, making it a fun Friday-night outing for families around Cornelius, Huntersville, Davidson, Mooresville, and beyond.

So round up your crew, put on your Halloween costumes, and head to Blythe Landing for a waterfront celebration that's a little spooky, a little sweet, and very Lake Norman.

No treasure map required. Just bring your candy bucket!

LKN Life Tip: This is one Halloween event that's especially fun for lake-loving families. Dress the kids in costumes, bring a candy bucket, and plan for an outdoor evening by the water. Comfortable shoes and an extra layer for the cooler October evening are smart additions to your pirate gear!
