Christmas in Davidson 2026 | Santa's Grand Entrance
What to expect.
Some towns decorate for Christmas. Davidson practically turns into a Christmas movie.
Picture twinkling storefronts, the sound of carolers drifting down Main Street, children chasing pretend snowflakes, and neighbors gathering beneath the lights on the Town Green. Add a visit from Santa, a little holiday shopping, and something delicious to eat, and you've got one of Lake Norman's most beloved Christmas traditions.
Christmas in Davidson returns December 3–5, 2026, from 6–9 PM each night. And if you've never been, consider this your official invitation to experience a little hometown holiday magic.
When Main Street Becomes Merry Main Street
For three evenings, Historic Downtown Davidson trades its everyday charm for something straight out of a storybook.
You'll find live entertainment, a dazzling holiday light show, strolling performers, live nativity scenes, and bubble snowflakes floating through the evening air. (It's North Carolina. Sometimes we have to improvise our winter wonderland.)
The little ones can get creative in the children's craft area, while grown-ups explore the artisan village for unique holiday gifts.
And don't forget Davidson's locally owned shops and restaurants. Christmas in Davidson is the perfect excuse to browse, grab dinner, and discover something special for that person who's impossible to shop for.
Santa's Grand Entrance
Thursday, December 3, at 6 PM marks the official opening celebration, when Santa arrives on the Town Green for the annual Christmas tree lighting.
It's one of those moments when the whole crowd seems to stop for a second, look up, and remember what makes the season special.
If you've got little ones who believe in Christmas magic, Thursday evening is an especially wonderful time to visit.
A Forest of Giving
While you're exploring the festivities, don't miss the Giving Tree Village on the Davidson Village Green.
Presented by the Rotary Club of Davidson, this beautiful display features Christmas trees decorated by local nonprofits and sponsored by community businesses and individuals.
It's festive, it's meaningful, and it's a lovely reminder that the holidays are about more than presents under the tree.
Make a Weekend of It
Want even more Christmas cheer?
The North Mecklenburg Holiday Parade takes place Saturday, December 5, at 1 PM, followed by the delightfully competitive Merry Main Street Tricycle Race.
Yes, grown adults racing tricycles through an obstacle course. Davidson really does know how to have fun.
One important note: the parade will follow an alternate route in 2026 because of road construction, so check the town's official parade page before choosing your viewing spot.
The Details You Need
LKN Life Tip: Skip the downtown parking hunt and hop on a free trolley! The town plans three routes, with pickup locations at River Run Soccer Field, Homewood Suites, and Davidson Pointe. Trolleys begin at 5:30 PM and the last downtown pickup is at 9:30 PM. More time for Christmas fun, less time circling for parking.
A Little Holiday Magic Goes a Long Way
The best part of Christmas in Davidson isn't one particular performance or decoration.
It's the feeling of strolling through town without being in a hurry. Seeing familiar faces. Watching kids light up when Santa arrives. And remembering that sometimes the sweetest Christmas traditions happen right in our own backyard.
So pull on a cozy sweater, gather your favorite people, and head to Davidson.
The halls are decked. The lights are twinkling. And Main Street is waiting.
