Concerts on the Green Band of Oz, Beach Variety
What to expect.
Some traditions don't need reinventing. Concerts on the Green is the Town of Davidson's longest-running summer concert series — a free, easygoing evening of live music on the Town Green, the stretch of lawn in front of the Davidson Public Library right in the heart of downtown. Bring a blanket or a couple of folding chairs, grab takeout from a Main Street spot, and settle in as the light goes long and golden over the green.
The format is refreshingly simple. Concerts run on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from 6:00 to 8:00pm, generally from spring through October, with a rotating lineup of local and regional acts — everything from full bands to college ensembles. It's the most laid-back of Davidson's three summer series (the others being Concerts @ the Circles on Jetton Street and Music & Makers), and the one that feels most like the whole town turning out for a picnic.
A blanket on the grass, takeout from Main Street, and live music as the sun goes down — Concerts on the Green is Davidson summer in one easy evening.
It's built for families and dawdlers alike. Kids run the lawn, neighbors catch up, food and drink vendors set up on-site, and downtown Davidson's restaurants and ice cream are a few steps away. A handful of dates shift around the calendar each year — a few land on Sundays, and the July date moves when the Fourth falls mid-week — so it's always worth a quick glance at the Town of Davidson's concert page for the current lineup and any moved dates before you head out.
