Eagle Extravaganza at the Carolina Raptor Center
What to expect.
Few things say Fourth of July weekend quite like standing a few feet from a Bald Eagle. Eagle Extravaganza at the Carolina Raptor Center is a day honoring the Bald Eagle — our national symbol and one of conservation's great comeback stories — staged as part of the America 250 celebration on Friday, July 3, 2026. It's equal parts wildlife encounter and history lesson, and it's right here in Huntersville.
The day along the Raptor Trail is built around showstopper moments. There's an awe-inspiring Bald Eagle feeding, a thrilling bird show, and Keeper Chats that trace how the eagle became America's symbol in 1782, nearly went extinct, and roared back through conservation. Between the headline programs, interactive stations line the trail with games, water play, and creative fun for kids — so it works just as well for a curious five-year-old as it does for a serious birder.
A Bald Eagle feeding, a flying bird show, and water play for the kids — the most patriotic morning on the lake doesn't involve a single firework.
One nice touch worth flagging: active-duty military members and veterans get free admission. And if you want to make a real morning of it, you can start with Breakfast with the Birds, a separately ticketed add-on that requires advance reservations. It's a meaningful, all-ages way to kick off the holiday weekend.
