Lake Norman Philharmonic Free Community Concert
What to expect.
There are few better ways to spend an early-fall evening on the lake than under the open sky at Liberty Park with a full orchestra in front of you. The Lake Norman Philharmonic returns to the Liberty Park Amphitheater for a free community concert that's family-friendly and open to all ages — the kind of polished, no-cost cultural night that makes Mooresville's arts scene feel bigger than its zip code.
The Phil is a local fixture, with a reputation for exciting, eclectic programs performed everywhere from Liberty Park to the Mooresville Performing Arts Center and the Charles Mack Citizen Center. This particular evening carries some extra weight: conducted by Maestro Eduardo Cedeño, the orchestra will feature special selections marking America's 250th anniversary — a Semiquincentennial program built for a crowd on the lawn.
A full orchestra under the open sky, a 250th-birthday program, and not a ticket in sight — bring a blanket and stay for the whole thing.
Cedeño is no small part of the draw. A founding member of Venezuela's famed El Sistema, he trained at Butler University and Boston University with further study in Europe, and has performed across the U.S., Europe, and South America. Under his baton, the Phil delivers a genuinely accomplished sound. Bring lawn chairs and blankets, settle in, and enjoy the evening — and if you're moved to, the group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and welcomes donations to keep nights like this free.
