Rock The Park Liberty Park Summer Concert Sail On: A Beach Boys Tribute
What to expect.
Rock the Park is the one Saturday a month, May through September, when Liberty Park turns into the closest thing Mooresville has to a town square set to music. June's bill is Sail On — a touring Beach Boys tribute that plays the harmonies straight and doesn't skip the deep cuts. You'll get "Wouldn't It Be Nice," you'll get "God Only Knows," and yes, somewhere around 8:30 the whole lawn will be on its feet for "Kokomo."
It's the kind of free evening the lake does better than anywhere. Families stake out blankets on the grass early, the social district means you can carry a drink from the downtown bars right onto the lawn, and the food trucks line the Broad Street edge. Bring low chairs, a cooler, and the kids — this one runs early and easy.
Bring a blanket, a cooler, and a tolerance for singing "Surfin' U.S.A." at full volume — this is the most fun you'll have for free all June.
Parking fills up by 5:30, so the move is to come early, grab a spot near the splash pad, and let the kids run while the band sound-checks. By the time the sun drops behind the tree line, you'll understand why locals put this one on the calendar in pen.
